Sustainability Commitment

Our day-one baseline for building lower-waste hospitality in Madeira with honest reporting.

Win with Wabitat

The first version of our sustainability work is about what we will track, not inflated claims before data exists.

Baseline

Plastic avoided

Tracked from the first guest orders as reusable and compostable products replace disposable alternatives.

Tracked

Local supplier share

Measured pack by pack as Madeira producers become part of the Wabitat supply chain.

Planned

Delivery efficiency

Route distance, delivery frequency, and restocking loops will be reviewed as the network grows.

Day 1

Reusable-first operations

The launch standard is simple: reuse where possible, compostable where reuse is not practical.

The challenge

The waste problem

Traditional tourism creates hidden waste. Pre-packaged, single-serving essentials often leave unrecyclable plastic behind in pristine places.

Wabitat replaces that pattern with right-sized portioning, durable containers, and compostable materials where reuse is not practical.

Supply chain

Local sourcing and carbon miles

Every mile a product travels adds to its footprint. We shorten supply chains by prioritizing island producers and practical delivery routes.

Partnerships with local makers help guests experience Madeira while reducing dependency on generic mainland imports.

Circular logistics from the start

Wabitat packaging is designed to re-enter the system. As orders begin, returned containers, wash cycles, and refill partners become part of the first measurable impact update.

What we will measure

Reporting begins with the first order. These are the indicators we will publish once real usage data is available.

Reusable container returns

Starts now

Tracked when guests leave empty containers for pickup, sanitization, and refill.

Plastic avoided per order

Per pack

Estimated from the disposable items each Wabitat pack replaces after launch.

Local product share

Per supplier

Measured by product source as more Madeira producers join the catalog.

First impact update

The next step is collecting enough real usage data to report responsibly.

Renewable operations

Assess energy options for washing, storage, and fulfillment as operations stabilize.

Water conservation

Measure wash cycles and identify conservation opportunities before making public targets.

Ecosystem expansion

Add local partners carefully, based on guest demand, product quality, and lower-waste fit.
